OUR MISSION
PSAS is an open source student group dedicated to making "better students" through interdisciplinary, team-based, hands-on aerospace projects.
PSAS has a "vision statement" of putting a 1 kg nanosatellite into orbit by ourselves. That's a great vision but a ridiculous goal for a university group (anyone got a million bucks they want to donate?!). But that helps shape what we work on! We have three strategic projects:
Building sophisticated amateur rockets
Building liquid propelled rocket engines
Building nanosatellites, including Oregon's First Satellite
OPEN SOURCE EVERYTHING
Everything we do is posted to a repository on Github with "copyleft" licenses. This means that anyone may use our designs, but if they distribute designs based on our designs, they have to open source their designs, too. This keeps all of our hard work out there in the open to benefit you, and, hopefully, we'll even get some improvements back!!
We generally use three types of copyleft licenses:
Documentation: Creative Commons (CC by SA)
Software: GPL v3 (or later)
